New from the provocatively talented young Colorado mandolinist Eva Holbrook her latest EP "It's Obvious Now." The prolific composer singer/songwriter and master fret techncian has crafted yet another music project beyond her years. The six song collection forages new ground for the mandolin as her Weber Acoustic supports her deeply introspective and personal lyrics and her 4-string Schwab Electric complements with R&B prowess a machismo conviction that betrays her curls.

While this brilliant musician tackles some technical studio processing wizardry underneath it all is dynamic raw ability. The etheral reverb delay distortion of her electric is part of her artist palate not an empty substitute for talent as is so common in today's pop music. This nineteen-year-old (Happy Birthday Eva!) continues to think and play outside the box. The mandolin world would do well to take note.

Eva begins her midwestern summer tour this month and we're certainly looking forward to seeing her and her family in our area very soon.

SHEL's set of 6 new songs was released in December 2007. The Edge is an EP (extended play) and one of a series of EPs that SHEL will be recording and releasing throughout 2008.
Recorded on new equipment these songs have been perfected on the road. The voices are beautifully blended and the music is excellently crafted and well produced.

Turn is Andrew Holbrook's most recently written song with music collaboratively written and perfected in live performances since late 2006.

The Edge Hannah's song written at the end of 2006 is a gorgeous song about heartbreaking choices. This is one of SHEL's most requested songs and showcases Hannah's wonderful song-writing and compostion.

The Latest and Greatest Blueberry Rubber Band placed after the heaviness of The Edge was written by SHEL over the summer of 2007 and illustrates once again the whimsy and originality of the girls. Sarah lets herself go "opera" and never fails to surprise and delight live audiences wherever this song is performed. Eva's percussive mando keeps things light and airy!

Still Young is Hannah's song about growing up too fast. Gorgeously sung it laments the loss of innocence as well as the seasons of life.

Ditty is a song that started life as an instrumental. In 2007 Eva wrote lyrics and Ditty took on a whole new life!

When I'm Gone was written by Eva for SHEL and is a provocative song about how we live our lives day to day and begs the question of whether or not we are making a mark here and now.

Recorded and released in the spring of 2007 Eva's solo CD has received many wonderful reviews which appear on SHEL's PRESS page.
Nicknamed the "Teen Queen of Crosspicking" by Martin Stillion in his eMando blog review of 2007 Eva receives amazing attention from all over the world and is an incredible live performer. She writes new songs weekly and hones her playing as a sought-after opening act for concerts by other performers like Katie Herzig Laval and Broder and 2007 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest Winners - Spring Creek. Highlights on "DREAM" are SHOOTING STAR TUSCANY CAR RIDE (with famed bassist Michael Olson on stand-up bass!) THE VERY LAST DREAM (with French shredder and producer David Soltany adding the guitar solo) and NICCOLO co-written and recorded with Annie Brooks.

SHEL's second release of all original music was released in 2006. The title cut Jack Box is a totally original and humorous song about an abusive relationship between a little girl and her jack-in-the-box; rather a grown-up subject. In keeping with SHEL's thought-provoking lyrics the SHEL cover of Andrew Holbrook's song Everything's Alright and the lead cut Falling are both powerful songs. Since Falling has been on Andrew's MYSPACE page he has received word that the song helped two people choose not to commit suicide.
Other bonuses are Eva's first recording of Shooting Star later re-recorded for her solo CD The Very Last Dream; the haunting instrumentals: Window Man and Lullaby; Eva's electric mandolin shredder Born From Jets and her tour de force classical acoustic Tuscany.
Rounding out the diverse collection is Hannah's Undanceable Waltz reviewed by a local radio station DJ Chris K of KRFC as a ..."passionate and articulate peformance"...

SHEL's breakout CD from 2005 full of totally original songs. This CD accompanied SHEL's first tour into the midwest beginning in late 2005. The title cut is the tragic story of the death of Andrew Holbrook's childhood friend and his young son and encourages audiences to not fear their pasts but to embrace and learn from the grief of loss.
The well loved SHEL instrumental Blankie composed by the girls for their brother's 2005 wedding is a wonderful highlight. Also included on the CD are the SHEL concert standards Saddle Up Has Anybody Seen Me? Wildman and Demons and Hannah's award winning piano composition White Duck's Escape.

Andrew Holbrook the father of the daughters who make up SHEL released this solo CD in 2002. Recorded and mastered by Dave Beegle at famed Dawg House Studios in Loveland Colorado this CD has a beautiful rendition of Holbrook's heartrending classic The Goodbye Song.
